Online Golf Coaching

The process is super simple.

Camera Placement for Filming Online Golf Lessons and Golf Swing Videos

Camera placement should be on a tripod or some other stationary mount to avoid shaking. Accurate video analysis of golf swings really needs a steady camera especially for the graphics and line-drawing features of the video software. (should we use the V1 software between sessions)

In addition, camera angles and distance from the subject are very important.

The camera height must always be placed at hand height.

To aid the precise alignment of the camera in relation to the body:

  1. A golf stick should be placed on the ground directly along the line of the golfers’ toes.
  2. A second golf stick should be laid on the ground centrally between the golfers’ legs, forming a cross.
  3. For a face-on view shot the camera should be placed 4 paces from the hands to camera – directly in line with the golf stick running between the golfers’ legs.
  4. The down-the-line camera should be set up, again at hands height and 4 paces back from the hands, on the line created by the golf stick lying along the players toes.

Test your shot beforehand to make sure you have the tightest view possible which still gets the entire arc of the golf club in the shot. Mobile phones should be turned on their side in a horizontal landscape format.

Wide angle lenses which are typical on smart phones and some of the newer pocket cameras require shooting the video at closer distances.

Once you have a video of your golf swing - be it “face on” or “down the line of you toes” [both would be even better] - making sure your hands are in the middle of the screen – follow below instructions:-

1. Download the app V1 Golf

  • 1a) click on “instructors” on bottom menu
  • 1b) select “yourgolfacademy” [no spaces between words]
  • 1c) select Stephen Govenlock as your instructor.

2. Then access the camera on the V1 App, either use the camera to take the necessary videos, or simply upload videos you already have on your phone, by clicking on the upload icon, bottom left of the camera screen. [ please make sure video’s are just swing length - 7-8 secs]

3. Once you have video in the swings section of you App. Click on the 3 dots to the right of the video clip, and click, send video to my Pro.

4. When I receive it, I will accept it and you will receive notification of my acceptance within the “lessons" tab of your v1 App.

5. I’ll review and voice over my initial thoughts /comments and return it to you via the app.
